February's Script of the Month Announced

February's Script of the Month, chosen by the Diversity Committee, is feature film Lonesome Whistle of a Far-off Train written by Brier Sanderson.

“I’m thrilled Lonesome Whistle of a Far-off Train has been chosen for Script of the Month," says Brier. "A western about a female outlaw with a female love interest in the 1860s, it captures the heart and the imagination. Written as a feature, it could also manifest as a television miniseries. This is a story whose time has come!”

The screenplay revolves around a notorious female outlaw, doing wrong things for the right reasons. She ignites the imagination of thousands and the amorous hearts of two: A shy, middle-aged bachelor determined to catch her; and the adventurous backwoods-woman determined to protect her.

“I sat down to read Lonesome Whistle of a Far-off Train and realized that it is a hell of a story; I couldn't believe it," says veteran WGC member Jim Makichuk, who worked with Brier to polish the screenplay. "It's a brilliant script. I was very much enthused by the idea of telling a woman's story set in a dusty world of men in the 1860s; a story that you wouldn't imagine.”

Congratulations Brier!
