Robert Cooper to Head up PSP Program

robert cooper

The Pacific Screenwriting Program (PSP) has named Robert Cooper as showrunner for the second edition of its Scripted Series Lab

Cooper will be mentoring six up-and-coming B.C.-based screenwriters who will be selected to participate in the 15-week lab, which opens in Jan. 2020. As showrunner, Cooper will mentor participants within a real-world story room over 10 weeks, breaking stories and writing scripts for the original project he brings to the room and will subsequently be pitching to global buyers.

Most recently, Cooper created and served as showrunner on the CBC miniseries Unspeakable, a passion project that followed Canada's tainted blood scandal. He is also known for his work as showrunner of BBC America/Netflix/AMC Studios' series Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency and the Stargate television franchise for MGM.

Sarah Dodd led the inaugural Scripted Series Lab in 2019. The PSP was established in Aug. 2018 and is a collaboration between Netflix, CMPA, WGC and Creative BC.
