2025 Constitution referendum has passed

referendum passed

Members have voted overwhelmingly in favour of updating the WGC Constitution.

The approved amendments include:

  • Gender-neutral language: Adopting gender-neutral language ensures our Constitution is inclusive and respects all members. This update is consistent with the change to gender-neutral language we made in 2024 to the Independent Production Agreement (IPA), WGC By-laws, and policies.
  • Full Member status requirements: The requirements for becoming a Full Member will be expanded to include two possibilities, either 60 minutes of contracted material or three (3) contracts as a member in the Guild’s jurisdiction. The addition of three contracts to the requirements creates an alternate pathway to full membership for writers working in shorter formats.

The referendum results have been verified by an outside Scrutineer.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the referendum. Special thanks to your Council, National Forum Delegates, and the Animation Committee for supporting the motion, and continuing the work to ensure our Guild is inclusive and accessible.
