Mentors needed for Sprint for Your Script

type

SODEC is looking for two WGC members to mentor the two Anglophone finalists in this year’s Sprint For Your Script competition in Quebec.

Organized by la Société de développement des entreprises culturelles (SODEC), in collaboration with the WGC, Société des auteurs de radio, télévision et cinéma (SARTEC), Rendez-vous Québec Cinéma, Regard Festival and L’Institut national de l’image et du son (L’inis) as training partner, this contest offers the opportunity to seven chosen screenwriters (five Francophones and two Anglophones) at the beginning of their professional careers to be mentored by professional screenwriters through the final draft of their short film script.

Your role as mentor will be to guide a finalist in revising their script via one-on-one meetings, as well as workshops (with the other finalists and their mentors) where you will read and discuss all scripts. In light of COVID-19 restrictions, it is most likely that all of these sessions will be virtual. Therefore, we encourage members from other parts of the country to apply.

Mentors must be bilingual (English and French). A reading knowledge of French is paramount. If your spoken French isn’t as strong, you could express yourself in English as all mentors and finalists will be bilingual. Mentors must also be available across several days between February 16 and March 24, 2021. The schedule will be available soon. The position is a paid one. Mentors will be engaged by SODEC.

All mentor candidates will be considered, but it is at the discretion of SODEC to make the final decision in order to have a well-balanced group.

To submit your candidacy, please email your CV to Natalia Escobar ([email protected]) by November 24, 2020.

The WGC will forward all applications to SODEC. Chosen mentors will be contacted by November 27, 2020.
